Abstract Phillip T. Catalano was chairman of a committee of the Grand Rapids Transportation Club that oversaw shipping Alexander Calder's sculpture, La Grande Vitesse. This collection provides information on the process of moving the crates to Grand Rapids from the delivery point at the Detroit Harbor. Abstract Judge R. Stuart Hoffius (1914-2005) was one of the key players in bringing the Alexander Calder sculpture La Grande Vitesse to Grand Rapids, Michigan. William Hill is a photographer in Grand Rapids, Michigan who documented the installation of Alexander Calder's La Grande Vitesse. The collection includes color slides showing the construction of the sculpture on the plaza at Vandenberg Center and the dedication ceremony. Also included is information relating to the Big Red Thing project at Grand Valley State University (circa 2007) and some biographical information on Hill.
