Abstract

Loren Marsh Page (1811-1886) arrived in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1836 (at the time it was the Village of Kent). Upon his arrival, Page met Jane Soper and they were married in 1837. Together they had nine children and Page ran a successful paper-hanging business for fifty years. This collection consists primarily of the journal Page kept from October of 1847 to March 1851.

Lucia Erins (d. 1989) was a Latvian immigrant to Grand Rapids, Michigan. This collection includes research that Erins conducted regarding the Latvian community in Grand Rapids. Her research began with a brief student paper in December 1985 followed by a longer paper in 1988. These papers are included along with 16 accompanying poster boards with photographs, original and photocopied materials used for research and copy negatives of research images.
