Labor Newspapers
Abstract
This collection contains labor newspapers published in Grand Rapids, Michigan, collected and donated by Michael W. Johnston. The Grand Rapids CIO News began publishing on July 28, 1955. The newspaper covered labor news and unions. In 1958, the name was changed to the Grand Valley AFL-CIO News, in 1968 to Grand Valley Labor News, and in 2011 to Work in Progress. The newspaper was published through 2015. The newspapers were microfilmed and digitized in 2018, thanks to generous support from the Stuart Fund of the Grand Rapids Public Library Foundation.
