Scope and Contents
This collection contains documents, scrapbooks, photographs, film negatives, color slides, audio tapes, video tapes, graphic materials, and various ephemera related to Dr. Mary Jane Dockeray. Three major series comprise the collection: Personal Life, Public Life, and Grand Rapids Public Museum (GRPM) and Blandford Nature Center (BNC). Included in the Personal Life series are family photographs and documents, scrapbooks, documents from her education (ranging from elementary through graduate school), and records related to Dockeray's travels around Michigan and elsewhere. Included in the Public Life series are documents relating to organizations with which Dr. Dockeray was involved, information related to honors and awards she was given, and resumes and summaries of her career. Included in the GRPM and BNC series are administrative reports, ephemera, publications from the center, and many photographs, slides, and negatives. Researchers interested in the development of the BNC, environmental education and programming, and West Michigan natural history interpretation will find value in using this collection.
