Abstract Sumner Merrill Wells, Jr. (1889-1966) was a prominent physician in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The bulk of his papers document Hospital Unit Q, during World War I. Wells served in this Red Cross Hospital unit, which was formed by the Grand Rapids Chapter of the Red Cross.
