It was created as the Ryerson Library Foundation in the early 1990s and funds numerous programs and projects within the Gradn Rapids Public Library. This devised collection contains trade catalogs issued from furniture companies in the greater Grand Rapids, Michigan area. Included are representative catalogs from the prominent American Seating, Baker, Berkey & Gay, Carl Forslund, Herman Miller, John Widdicomb, Nelson-Matter, Steelcase, Stickley Bros. and Stow & Davis companies, among numerous others. The catalogs list items for sale and usually give prices, item numbers and photographs or illustrations.

This is a devised collection that includes manuscript and graphic materials related to the early Michigan territory, Michigan’s entry as a state, key historical Michigan events, general Michigan history and key Michigan citizens. Abstract

The Grand Rapids Public Library Glass Plate Negatives Collection contains 40 glass plate negatives, with the bulk of the items showing various people, accompanied also by some places. Many of the portraits are copy negatives from original cabinet cards. Both the date and photographer are unknown. People of note include the following governors: John J. Bagley; Kinsley S. Bingham; Austin Blair; John T. Rich; and, Arthur St.Clair, Hazen S. Pingree.

This is a devised collection containing various items and small accessions collected at the Grand Rapids Public Library and relating to the Grand Rapids Symphony. The collection does not contain the official records of the Symphony, but contains some informative documents from individuals directly associated with the Symphony, as well as other materials collected over the years by the Library. The interviews were conducted by various individuals, through several different forums. The two major Grand Rapids, Michigan newspapers of the 20th century are the Grand Rapids Press, which continues today, and the Grand Rapids Herald, which ceased in 1959.
