Abstract Robert Veit (1920-1987) served the Grand Rapids (Michigan) Fire Department for forty years, beginning in 1944. He was promoted to lieutenant in 1948, Captain in 1949, District Chief in 1952, Deputy Chief in 1961 and Chief in 1967. He retired in 1984.
