World War I diary of Klaas Groothuis

Abstract Klaas Groothuis kept this diary during his military service in World War I. Born in 1898 in Loppersum, Netherlands, Klaas immigrated to the United States in 1912, lived and worked as a laborer in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and returned to Europe in 1918 to serve. His diary touches on the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, as well as the Armistice on November 11, 1918, and the influenza pandemic, which killed him in 1919. Abstract Wright L. Coffinberry (1807-1889) was an early settler in Grand Rapids (Mich.) and a self-taught civil engineer and archaeologist. Moving to Grand Rapids from Ohio circa 1848, he was responsible for a large number of additions platted for the city as well as several state road projects, principally the road from Kent County to Northport.The collection includes his autobiography, maps from his work as a civil engineer and various documents on the excavations of the Norton Mounds....

The Wurzburg/Arbaugh Department Store Records contains items that range from the late 1940's to early 1950's. It was during this time period that Wurzburg's was expanding and renewing their retail brand. This meant an expansion into other retail markets, including the Lansing area and a renovation of their prescence in downtown Grand Rapids.

Abstract The Ypsilanti Reed Furniture Co. was a manufacturer of specialty reed furniture and was based in Ionia (Mich.). This collection consists of three volumes (incomplete) of the Ypsi-Doodler, a publication by and for the employees of the company.
