Ladies Literary Club records

Abstract The Ladies Literary Club was a women's club in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The group, organized in the 1860s, sought to promote literary and scientific pursuits. When the organization closed in 2005 they donated their records to the library. The club held regular meetings with educational talks and hosted a number of local and national speakers. This small collection documents the business affairs of the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway and summarizes the railroad's financial data from the last decade of the 19th century and the first 14 years of the 20th century. Abstract Felix W. Latzek was born on 14 February 1895 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a Union Bank and Trust Co. manager and a part-time funeral director at the Latzek Funeral Home, founded by his father, Frank Latzek. Abstract Lawrence Maile (ca. 1910-1988) was an early aviator in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His aviation papers contain photographs, news clippings, postcards, pilot's logs, and other memorabilia.
