Scope and Contents From the Series: The Belknap neighborhood formed the Hill District Improvement Association in 1962. The Hill District Improvement Association was one of the first active neighborhood associations in Grand Rapids in the post-WWII era. This organization fizzled out as the neighborhood became a popular neighborhood for renters and college students. In May, 1974, individuals outside the South East End, but committed to the neighborhood, formed HEFF (Hall, Eastern, Franklin, Fuller). This organization evolved, and SEENA was formed in 1977.

SEENA targets the housing and drug problems of the neighborhood, and often sponsors parties and parades in King Park.

Much of the material in this collection was found in the South East End Neighborhood Association vertical file.
