Abstract

The Cannon Township death records consists of the unofficial death records for the residents of that township from 1911-1952. The records provide the name, age, sex and birth date, along with the date and cause of death. The occupation, marriage status, birth place and date, undertaker, and some family history area also included in all of the records.

Biographical / Historical

A subunit of Kent County, Michigan until 1846, Cannon Township was part of Plainfield Township. Cannon's population at the time was near 300. The town of Cannon was first settled in 1837. As an inducement to settlers, lots were given to those who would improve them. The town was named Cannon after Le Grand Cannon, an eastern man who owned large tracts of land in the town.
