 File — Box: 1, Folder: 23-24

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The contents of this collection cover both personal and professional aspects of Lemuel’s life. Family history papers dating back to the late 1700s provide a background on Lemuel’s ancestry, with photographs, Bible pages, and other information on previous Hillman generations. The collection also offers a glimpse into Lemuel’s military service through correspondence, certificates, and photographs. Lemuel’s time as a banker is well-represented through several folders of correspondence, mostly dating between 1918–1925. A substantial portion of the collection relates to Lemuel’s many speeches and writings, including articles he wrote as editor of the Old National Bank Bulletin and original manuscript drafts. Another significant portion of the collection is made up of newspaper articles about Lemuel, many of them dating to the months after his death.
