Biographical / Historical

Photograph was left by Elsie, nee Buchholz, Lange (1883-1994) in her home at 264 Griswold SE, Grand Rapids when she sold it in the early 1980s. She grew up in Douglass Township, Montcalm County, Michigan and moved to Grand Rapids to work as a domestic servant when she was a teenager. She married William Charles Lange (1882-1951) in 1913. Based on research and information provided by the donor, this photograph is likely a Lutheran confirmation class in Montcalm County, taken in the 1910s.
