In 1960 the Sidwell Company of Chicago, IL was hired by Kent County to produce the Aeroplat Atlas of Kent County in Four Volumes for tax assessing purposes. Each volume is divided by township and then sections. There are aerial photographed maps of each section, in each township, followed by drawn parcel line maps of each quadrant in the section. The drawn maps show parcel identification numbers, parcel and lot dimensions, street and street names.

Updates were made to these maps as late as 1973 and those updates are included in each volume, making it possible to see how an area developed over time. Note that these volumes are also available on the floor of the Grand Rapids History Center. Archival copies need not be used.
