Scope and Contents
The Grand Rapids Herald series contains images that were taken for possible use in this newspaper. Not all of the images were in fact used. The series contains approximately 80,000, 4"x5" negatives of events, people, buildings, business in the Grand Rapids area during the 1940s. It presents valuable and extensive documentation of the area during the World War II years. The series is useful for its images of women working outside the home, clothing, social, and cultural events.
