General
Notice the seating-height stones and the cap stones outlining the property where the digging is in progress. It is probable that City Hall is still standing, and just out of view to the left, since the stones outlining the Old City Hall yard have not yet been disturb. The hill in the background suggests this is the Lyon St. side of the Old City Hall yard. The parking garage right in the image is on the sw corner of Ionia & Lyon with the then U.S. Post Office, later Grand Rapids Art Museum, across Ionia St. This makes the building behind the bulldozer the Association of Commerce Building. The building in the background may be a Grand Rapids Junior College Building on Bostwick or Ransom.
