Milling Road Furniture, hand crafted by Grand Rapids Chair Company, Division of Baker Furniture, Inc. Historical Note, based upon Carron, 1998, pg. 153: The Grand Rapids Chair Co., was founded in 1872. From 1945-1957 it operated as a subsidiary of Sligh-Lowry, under it’s own name. The Grand Rapids Chair Company was purchased by Baker in 1957, but the furniture continued to be produced under the Grand Rapids Chair Company name. In 1973 the factory & assets were fully integrated into Baker, and the Grand Rapids Chair Co. name was discontinued.
