Feb. 1931 b/w snapshots from Estate of former GR resident. (2006.083.1-3 Added 9/8/2006 ) 1. Feb. 12, 1931. Monroe Ave. Shows a street level image from Campau Square looking SE. People and autos on the brick streets. A hut and either streetcar of bus stops constructed in the middle of the square. “Houseman” sign visible left. View primarily of the buildings on the South side of the street. 2. Feb. 12, 1931. Fulton St. Bridge. Shows view from the middle or west side of the bridge looking northeast toward McKay Tower and the Pantlind Hotel in the distance. 3. Feb. 17, 1931. Monroe Ave. Shows view NW toward the Pantlind which cannot be seen in the faded background. Sign visible left is “A.J & E.A. Shellman, Optometrists. City Directory lists their address as 98 Monroe or 200-202 The Gilbert, which was at 41-45 Monroe. This appears to be the Gilbert building location, with Commerce St. as the corner in the foreground in the image.
