Scope and Contents
1. Group photo with a label in the image and one under the image. Under the image: Berkey & Gay Furniture Co., Grand Rapids, Mich. 1873 is hand written. Mostly men, but also women and several children in front. Typed verso note: "In 1873, workers of the Berkey & Gay Furniture Company posed patiently in front of their employer’s factory, a sign of the times in the history of Grand Rapids, according to new book just released. Called Grand Rapids: Renaissance on the Grande, the oversized, 248 page hardbound book traces the chronological history of the city through a text written by Author Gerald Eliot [sic Elliott] and by more than 300 historic photos. The project was sponsored by the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce."
